Senior Squad Trials for IKF European Championships A-Division 2021
England Korfball will be holding trials for the Senior Squad on Sunday 25th July 2021 at Trinity Sports Club, Shirley Park, Croydon, CR9 7AT between 12pm (midday) and 4pm.
The purpose of the trial will be to select a squad to represent England Korfball at the IKF European Korfball Championship A – Division 2021, in Belgium, between 25th and 30th October 2021.
The trials are being held in line with the existing England Korfball selection policy, a copy of the selection policy is available here.
The selection process is invitational. This statement means that only athletes invited to attend a trial can be assessed for selection. Athletes will be invited based on one or more of the following:
- Identification by a coach from the International Subcommittee (ISC)
- England Korfball Level 2 qualified coach has referred an athlete that is playing at the highest level (BUCS, Inter-areas, National League)
In regions with limited opportunities for competition, athletes can be nominated by their club coach for the ISC to review their potential and therefore link in to point 1 above.
Given the absence of any competition since March 2019, in any region, we are asking for club coaches to nominate players for the ISC to review and link to point 1 above.

The trials will be run by Rob Williams, EK Senior Lead Coach and his coaching team; the composition of the senior squad will be finalised thereafter.
Applications are invited from club coaches wishing to nominate athletes to be considered for trials. In the first instance, please link on the link at the bottom of this page and complete the form for each athlete you wish to nominate by 5.00pm on Thursday 15th July 2021. This will allow the coaches to consider interest and agree those athletes to be invited to trials. Invitations to attend trials, together with trial information will be sent out by midnight, Sunday 18th July 2021.
Players attending the trial will each be asked to pay £10 towards the cost of the trial.
By nominating athletes, club coaches agree to release them from any club commitments on the following senior squad training dates:

- Sunday, 8 August 2021
- Sunday, 15 August 2021
- Sunday, 22 August 2021
- Sunday, 5 September 2021
- Sunday, 12 September 2021
- Sunday, 19 September 2021
- Sunday, 26 September 2021
- Sunday, 3 October 2021
- Sunday, 10 October 2021
- Saturday, 16 October 2021
To minimise risks associated with Covid, England Korfball have opted into the tournament accommodation package: a combination of triple and double rooms at the Van Der Valk Hotel, Antwerp. The package includes breakfast, lunch, dinner and local transportation. The team is scheduled to arrive on Saturday 23rd October and depart on Sunday 31st October. The cost of the package is £650 per player.
If the tournament is cancelled, the package costs should be refunded. However, if the England team are unable to travel / attend, but the tournament goes ahead, the package costs are only refundable up to 45 days before the tournament. EK ISC are currently looking into insurance options to cover players liability in the above event.
Players will be asked to contribute £110 towards training costs, so the overall cost would be £760, plus travel to and from tournament, plus insurance.

- availability of the athlete to attend senior squad training dates
If athletes have any pre-existing arrangements, that would prevent them from attending any of the above training dates, this information must be included in their nomination email.
