Norfolk deliver an outstanding National Youth Day

The 2017 edition of National Youth Day took place on Sunday, 9th July in Norwich.

England Korfball’s Frank Sieber said: “A great milestone this year, with National Youth Day founder Peter Allan in attendance along with David Bond and Lol More, 20+ years service to National Youth Day was celebrated at the presentation, recognising their outstanding contribution to youth Korfball.

Norfolk Korfball’s chairman Joe Skeet said: “It was an absolute pleasure to host National Youth Day this year. It was fantastic to see so many young and talented children, from across the country, enjoying the sport.

“Special thanks and recognition must also go to all the Norfolk Korfball volunteers who came out in force and gave up their time to ensure the event ran smoothly.

“Thanks also to the referees that travelled from further afield to assist with the event.

“Well done to all the teams that took part and thanks to everyone that attended, we hope you all enjoyed yourselves in Norwich”

Frank Sieber was delighted with the “outstanding organisation” from Norfolk Korfball.

“They delivered a first class event. Joe Skeet and the Norfolk Korfball volunteer force did a fantastic job.

The growth of youth korfball in the Norfolk region was also recognised and highlighted at the Under 9 age group, with the region performing strongly in the other age categories.

  • Runners-up – Avenues 1 (Norwich)
  • Pool B Winners – Cambridge City
  • Pool C Winners – Nottingham

Under 11s

  • Winners – Kingfisher (Kent),
  • Runners-up – MKX (South Midlands)
  • Pool B Winners – Cambridge Tigers

Under 13s

  • Winners – Norwich Dragons
  • Runners-up – Cambridge City (by goal difference)

Under 17s

  • Winners – Tornadoes (Kent)
  • Runners-up – Cambridge Tigers
  • Pool B winners – Cambridge City (by goal difference)

England Korfball Youth coaches were in attendance and were able to see many very talented young players, playing in competition, at a high level. Thanks to them for their outstanding support.

An outstanding event, and a great day enjoyed by large crowds of supporters.

England Korfball’s Competition sub-committee; Sally More, Sam Wells and Graham Crafter  did an outstanding job with the administration and organisation of the event.

We hope that all in attendance enjoyed the event and look forward to NYD 2018.
