Kent win GOLD at the U19 Inter-Areas

The Kent U19 team have won the gold medal at the England Korfball U19 Inter-Area championships defeating Norfolk 12-9 in the final earlier today (24 April).

 

The event was hosted by the Kent Korfball Association at the New Line Learning School in Maidstone, Kent.

 

The inter-area championships is a competition for regional teams. Once a year the best players from the areas clubs come together and take on the other areas from across the country.

 

Regional teams from Cambridge, Kent, London, Norfolk and South Midlands entered this years event.

 

The competition was a pool of 5 with the top 2 going onto a final playoff to decide the winner.

Kent Korfball Association chairman Stuart McLellan and England Korfball’s Sam Wells presented the Norfolk with their runners-up medals and Kent with their Gold medals and the trophy.

 

Sam Wells said: “Thank you to Stuart [McLellan] and the Kent Korfball Association for hosting this event – it was great to see so many volunteers who worked tirelessly to ensure a well-run championships.

 

“This year Kent have won the Under-13, Under-17 and Under-19 Inter-Area championships. Congratulations to all the players and coaches on this amazing achievement.

 

“I’m also pleased to confirm that four people also recieved their shot-clock accreditation today”
