New Under 19 Coach Appointed

England Korfball are delighted to announce the appointment of Tony Woodvine to the coaching team of the England under-19 squad.

Woodvine will link up with existing assistant coach Davesh Patel to form a coaching team for the under 19 squad.

Woodvine, aged 30, who still plays regularly in the top league in England Korfball for South London side Trojans Korfball Club brings a wealth of experience to the role.

Along with his vast experience of both club and international korfball, Woodvine has also coached football teams to a high level and has also assisted coaching the junior teams at Trojans.

Most recently Woodvine was assistant coach to England senior head coach Dave Buckland when the pair coached the England u23 squad.

Woodvine who took his first u19 training session today (22 November) said “I am very pleased to have been appointed as u19 coach.

“I am at the stage in my career where I want to give back the time and effort that coaches gave to me in my youth.

“I hope with my experience and 22 years of playing korfball at a high level, that I can help to develop the youth of korfball alongside the England coaching staff and keep improving the standard of korfball in England.

“I am looking forward to working alongside Davesh and building a strong squad for the upcoming World Cup”

The next tournament for the England u19 squad is the Korfball World Cup which will take place in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands in April 2015.
