Interview: Davesh Patel

Bec Korfball Club and England International Davesh Patel was interviewed after England’s final match at the IKF European Korfball Championships 2016.

“We controlled it really well, there were times where Czech Republic came back into the game but we kept our composure and showed what we can do. It’s a shame that we’ve left it so late in the tournament – I thought we did play well against Germany, I just think that our little shots didn’t drop for us which ultimately cost us the game.

When asked about the future, Patel ruled out any immediate plans to retire from International Korfball.

“We’ve got a lot of experience in this squad, I wouldn’t say any of them are at retirement age at the moment, as Dave [Buckland] has said previously we’ve got good youngsters coming through competing with us, which is good all round for the sport and for England in particular. It’s not just this experienced group we’ve got nice youngsters coming through, competing, pushing us all the time. It’s good to have the competition.”
