Duo Refereeing at the Finals

The England Korfball Premier and Promotion Divisions Semi-Final and Final weekends will be officiated using ‘Duo’ refereeing this season. 

The use of Duo refereeing has been growing throughout Korfball over the last few years and has been trialled in the England Korfball Promotion Divisions this season.

The England Korfball Referee subcommittee (RSC) has been collecting feedback from the players, coaches, clubs, referees and assessors throughout the season and we are very happy with the performance of our Duo teams. 

As a result, the RSC has decided to use Duo refereeing teams for the Semi-Finals and Final weekends this season instead of a main referee with an assistant.

The referees who have been selected for appointment for the Semi Finals matches are listed below.  Congratulations to all the referees selected.

We will announce the appointments for the final round of matches after the completion of the Semi Finals.

Duo Refereeing?

Duo Refereeing operates with two equal referees officiating the game together on the court, rather than a single main referee supported by an assistant referee.  Both referees take responsibility for different areas of the court dynamically during the match, regularly communicating with each other through the use of headsets.
