English referee selected for IKF Europa Cup 2017

England Korfball referee Dean Woods has been appointed by the International Korfball Federation to referee at the European Cup finals in January 2017 which will be held in Sassenheim, Netherlands.

Woods, 33, who joined the IKF’s list of international referees in 2009 has taken charge of a number of high profile matches, most recently as the assistant referee for the under-23 World Championship between Chinese Taipei and The Netherlands.

Speaking about Woods’ selection, Steve Jones from England Korfball’s referee committee said “Dean’s appointment further enhances the reputation of English refereeing and England Korfball. Congratulations to Dean on his appointment”

The 51st edition of the Europa Cup will be played from Thursday 12 January to Saturday 14 January 2017. Last seasons England Korfball League play-off winners Trojans Korfball Club from Croydon, south London will represent England at the Europa Cup.
