Williams and Stirling appointed England U23 coaches

England Korfball have appointed Rob Williams as the new Head Coach and Joe Stirling as the new Assistant Coach of the England U23 team.

The new coaching team will begin work with immediate effect to select a squad for the IKF U23 World Championships which will take place in July 2016 in Olomouc, Czech Republic.

Williams retired from International duty in 2010. His international career representing both Great Britain and England spanned two decades, including 4 European Championships, 4 World Championships and 3 World Games.

England Korfball’s Lisa Swain said: “We’re looking forward to seeing this new coaching team in action.

“With Rob’s international playing experience and Joe’s recent success on the IKF Level 3 coaching course I’m confident that they will be successful.

“Their task will now begin in working with senior coach Dave Buckland to prepare an 8 week training program for our talented group of players at this age group which will continue the philosophy of the ISC in developing players in a way which is positive in their development and progression as well as to produce positive results at this tournament.”
