England U21 Squad Trials

England Korfball will be holding trials for the Under-21 Squad on 22 February, 2020 at Royal Russell School, Coombe Lane, Croydon, CR9 5BX between 15.40 and 17.40.

The trials are being held in line with the existing England Korfball selection policy.

The trials will be run by Corinne Buckland, U21 Lead Coach with assistance from other international coaches; the composition of the U21 squad will be finalised thereafter.

The selection process is invitational. This statement means that only athletes invited to attend a trial can be assessed for selection. Athletes will be invited based on one or more of the following:

  1. Identification by a coach from the International Subcommittee
  2. EK Level 2 qualified coach has referred an athlete that is playing at the highest level (BUCS, Inter-areas, National league)

In korfball regions with limited opportunities for competition, athletes can be nominated by their club coach for the International Sub Committee to review their potential and therefore link in to point 1 above.

Athletes will be invited to a trial, assessment will include criteria, including but not exclusively:-

  • Game Awareness
  • Mental Toughness
  • Technical Skill
  • Athletic Ability
  • Match Performance

Applications are invited from athletes wishing to be considered for trials. In the first instance, please forward by email your name, club, gender and date of birth, together with confirmation that you are available for trials to Nicole Sparks by 17:00 on Wednesday, February 19. This will allow the coaches to consider interest and agree those athletes to be invited to trials.

Invitations to attend trials, together with trial information will be sent out by midnight, Thursday February 20.
