Morris and Coyte-McKenzie appointed U17 captains

The U17 Korfball World Cup will take place this weekend (21 – 22 March) in Sportsvenue Dioscuren in the Netherlands.

It’s the 17th edition of the tournament. In previous years this event was for players aged under-16, however following an overhaul of the youth age groups by the IKF this years event will be for played aged under 17.

The England U17 squad travelled out to the Netherlands on Thursday 19th and will complete a training session on Friday before the tournament gets underway on Saturday.

England’s opening matches are against Portugal and Chinese Taipei.

Eight countries will be represented at the U17 Korfball World Cup: Belgium, Catalonia, Chinese Taipei, England, Germany, Hungary, The Netherlands and Portugal.

Laura Morris and Luke Coyte-McKenzie have been selected as the captains for the England U17 squad.

Laura Morris said “I am so proud to be representing England as a captain.  We have been training hard and are looking forward to testing both our tactical and technical skills against teams from Europe and Asia.”

Coyte-McKenzie said: “It’s a great honour to captain my country and be part of such an exciting young squad.  We are really looking forward to the tournament and playing teams from all over the world”
