U23 World Cup: England win Bronze!

Earlier today (Tuesday 20 December) England’s U23 team beat Czech Republic at the U23 World Cup securing the Bronze medal and third place in the tournament.

England took an early 4-0 lead before Czech Republic found the back of the korf. Going into the halftime break England were ahead 12-7.

The second half was more of an even match with England again winning the half 6-5  to take the scoreboard onto 18-12.

Goal scorers for England: Palfreyman (7), Bailey (6), Camies (2), Derham (1), Warner (1), Wilson (1).

Five teams took part in the inaugural U23 World Cup which ran alongside the KNKV’s Korfball Challenge tournament in Rotterdam’s Topsportcentrum arena.

The Netherlands defeated Chinese Taipei in a pulsating final 22-18.

Final placings: 1. The Netherlands, 2. Chinese Taipei, 3. ENGLAND, 4. Czech Republic, 5. Germany.
