The Korfball Team

With sadness, Steve & Alison Rumble have taken the difficult decision to step down from their respective Commercial & Marketing roles.  Key reason why is the Board’s decision to postpone the implementation of the Home of Korfball (HoK) for the start of the 2025/2026 season. The proposal had been to annually host multiple matches over a number of all day events at an amazing facility, together with providing a regular training venue for the performance & development pathway.

After a number of months spent finding the venue, assessing the technical feasibility and developing the contract plus commercial models, a further period was spent discussing the proposal with the Board, with multiple updates of the commercial model and engagement of an external solicitor to evaluate the proposed contract.  However, the Board felt the timing of the launch of HoK, when there were many other conflicting priorities that had emerged over the past few weeks/months, meant the launch needed to be delayed.  The possibility of using the venue for the semi finals in May 2026 is currently being explored as a starting point.

With the HoK being the central pillar of the Commercial Strategy presented by Steve & Alison to the Board back in the summer of 2024, without it, they felt the ability to showcase & elevate the profile of the sport, whether within the Korfball community, media & sponsors, has diminished significantly and makes enhancing the commercial value of the sport extremely difficult.

As a result, Steve & Alison feel that their roles have became redundant and therefore have taken the decision to step down.

Clearly this is not an easy decision, especially after investing huge amounts of time to help to try to transform the sport, including a significant impact, particularly in relation to our social media presence with the new Social Media Working Group  We respect their decision and thank them for all their efforts, especially in providing the blueprint to help transform Korfball, one that can be implemented at a time in the future when it will be appropriate for the sport to move in this direction.
