Ralph Appleby appointed to EK Board
England Korfball have appointed Ralph Appleby to the Board as the new member for competitions.
Ralph joined the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme. TASS in June 2018 as the National Lead for Practitioner Development, responsible for managing the CPD element of the TASS practitioners within the network. Since September 2022, Ralph has been responsible for the TASS delivery workforce development strategy, working with discipline leads to ensure practitioners are appropriately skilled to provide quality holistic sport science and athlete development services to the England Talent Pathway. His skills in identifying areas of development required across a network, and creating then monitoring the effectiveness of interventions is invaluable as we strive to improve our competitions structure.
Previously, Ralph worked for Northumbria University as part of their performance sport programme as the Athlete and Team Services Manager. In 2018, Ralph completed his PhD and is a chartered Sports Psychologist. Keenly invested in sport from a young age, Ralph has witnessed the many benefits of physical activity and continues to compete/coach in rugby union. Ralph’s experience in competitions across a wide variety of sports, at a performance level and in University sport, make him the perfect fit for the position.
This appointment follows a round of open recruitment and the appointment will be ratified by the England Korfball membership at the next AGM. Ralph will have strategic oversight of competitions and will work closely with the Competitions Sub-Committee.
