Performance Programme England U17 Player Development and U17 World Cup

England Korfball are pleased to announce forthcoming dates which will provide athletes within the U17 age group a chance to be involved with korfball focussed player development coaching sessions. The dates below are part of a co-ordinated approach to provide inclusive training opportunities to widen the pool of talent from which England Korfball can draw upon for future and current training camps.

The dates are being released in conjunction with the forthcoming U17 World Cup. From those attending the player development sessions, a squad of 14 athletes will be selected to attend the U17 World Cup. However it is important to stress that any athletes not selected in this squad will remain eligible for attendance at future ‘Development Days’ which will be part of the future mapping of the England Korfball Academy Programme.

Player Focussed Development Dates:

It is strongly advised that coaches of any athletes in this age group support players to come forward for attendance at the below listed training opportunities.

Eligible athletes must be U17 on 1/1/2022 and at least 14 Years of age on 2/7/2022.

Player Development Day 1:

Saturday 4th June 2022, UEA, 2.30pm-6.30pm.

U17 World Cup Information & Dates

U17 World Cup: Eindhoven, Netherlands.

Those athletes interested in being part of the U17 World Cup Squad need to be available for the following dates:

  • At least one of Player Development Day 1 or Day 2 sessions. It is strongly advised to attend both.
  • Player Development Day 3:
  • Travel to and return from Eindhoven Friday 1st July-Sunday 3rd July 2022.

Players wishing to be part of the U17 World Cup are strongly encouraged to attend all development days ahead of the dates above, but selection can be taken from a single open session.

Costs are being finalised but are anticipated to be approximately £750.

England Korfball are committed to providing a culture and environment which promotes inclusivity and opportunity for all athletes in the performance programme. This is especially true of those in younger age groups where access to high quality coaching and training opportunities can be a barrier to being part of a future programme of training. Training within the proposed sessions will include but not be limited to:

  • Technical Development of Korfball Specific Skills
  • Physical Conditioning and training activities
  • Tactical approaches in Korfball

England Korfball are looking forward to a new era in player development and are excited to welcome U17 athletes into the first of many future development opportunities in the performance programme.
