Netherlands U16 promotional visit an amazing success

In July the Netherlands Under 16 korfball squad visited England as part of a promotional tour playing a number of matches against England Korfball’s youth international squads as well as visiting a number of primary schools in the London Borough of Bromley.

Friendly International matches were played on Thursday (10 July) and Saturday (12 July) between The Netherlands U16 and England under 16 and under 19 squads.

On Friday (11 July) the Netherlands U16 squad and their team of coaches, including Leon Simple and Barry Schep  went into two schools in the London Borough of Bromley; Oak Lodge Primary School and Hayes Primary School. Lisa Swain from England Korfball said “The children at both Oak Lodge and Hayes enjoyed the experience – the atmosphere in the schools and throughout the sessions was great!”

A coaching clinic from Simons and Schep was held on Friday evening – Eighteen coaches signed up to attend the session. The England Korfball Academy squad assisted with the demonstration. Commenting on the coaching session Swain said “Feedback from the coaches was fantastic and the Academy players enjoyed the experience too”

Saturday (12 July) morning England Academy and U16 squads took part in a number of training sessions along with the Netherlands players at Whitgift Sports Centre in Croydon. On Saturday afternoon there were another two matches played against England U16 and U19 squads.
