What is Korfball?

Korfball is a dynamic, controlled contact, mixed-gender team sport that originates from the Netherlands and is played in over 50 countries. It pulls together aspects of netball, handball and basketball to form a unique and inclusive game.

Fun Fact: ‘Korf’ is Dutch for ‘Basket’!

So what makes it so unique?

Teams are formed by 4 males, and 4 females all of whom switch between attack and defence every 2 goals. And yes, you can score from behind the post!

The court is split into 2 divisions by a centre line with a ‘Korf’ post placed approx 6.6m from the back line. Each division has 2 females and 2 males in each half but you shouldn’t mark someone of the opposite sex. The aim of the game is to get the ball through the ‘Korf’ which is yellow and 3.5m above the ground.
