King named as new England captain
Ben King has been named as the new captain of the senior England squad, coach Dave Buckland has confirmed.
King said: “It’s a great honour to be asked to be the England captain. It’s the most exciting and dynamic squad I’ve been a part of for a long time and I have high hopes of strong performances in Portugal.
“Training has been going well and we have an opportunity next weekend to test ourselves against some strong opposition.”
Head Coach Dave Buckland also confirmed that Davesh Patel has been selected as the squads vice captain.
Speaking about the squad selection for the IKF European Korfball Championships Buckland said: “Exciting times with young new faces with great talent and players who are hungry for the game. England should be proud of these players.”
England play Catalonia, Scotland and Wales in a series of international friendly matches to be played in Croydon, South London on Saturday 06 and Sunday 07 September.
