England win 11-19 against Hungary

England won their final match at the IKF European Korfball Championships in the Netherlands on Sunday, 21 October. 

Coach Williams started with Charlie Vogwill, Davesh Patel, Natasha Dawson, Ashley Warner in first attack and Paul Debenham, Dave Brooks, Shannon Jones and Neala Brennan in first defence. 

It was a slow start to the match with just five goals scored. England went into the break 2-3 head with goals from Vogwill, Brennan and Brooks. 

The second period was much improved with a total of seven more England goal, six of which were scored without reply from Hungary. 

Going into the half-time break England were leading 3-10. 

Rachel Turner replaced Ashley Warner in the third period which England won 2-4 taking the match score onto 4-14. 

The pace picked up again in the fourth period and Hungary started to find the back of the basket scoring seven goals to England’s five. Jess Davies replaced Brennan and Alex Bell replaced Vogwill. 

Charlie Vogwill top scored for England with eight goals to take his tally for the European Championships to a total of 17 goals.
