The Korfball Team

With the new season fast approaching, we would like to update you on several items!

Competition Admin System

As previously communicated a couple of months ago, having listened to feedback from the membership the Board have taken the decision not to renew Playwaze for the 2025/26 season.

Work is well underway to setup a new Competition Admin system, which is provided by League Republic. As some on you may know, League Republic is used by Scotland and Wales for their respective competitions administration systems.

This is purely a system to run the leagues and competitions within England, to include publishing fixtures details, results, statistics and tables.

Club/NGB Administration System

Again, as previously communicated we are in the final stages of the setup and configuration for the Club/NGB Administration System provided by Sport:80.

This system is designed to be the central source of data for all clubs and teams, including player/member/coach/referee information with each person having one record within the system which will hold all their Korfball related information such as coaching qualifications etc.

The system will also hold records of DBS along with expiry dates so that clubs and individuals alike can ensure that everyone who is required to have a Korfball DBS check completed and maintain a record of when it needs renewing etc. The new system will also allow the individual to start the renewal process or request a DBS check from the portal.

The new system will require Parent/Guardians of Under 18’s to give consent for their child to play the sport and give both their and the child’s information.

From England Korfball’s view point it will allow us to better communicate with groups of individuals such as the coaches of youth teams or safeguarding officers etc as it will provide a central database of contacts.

Once the system is live and membership data* is transferred over from Playwaze, we will start the process of removing all personal data from Playwaze.

Club Forum/Workshops

We are planning to hold three club forums/workshops where we are looking to hear your views about the sport, share our vision and an outline strategy for the next three years, along with providing a whistle stop tour of the new systems (more detailed sessions will be held about the systems shortly thereafter).

These forums/workshops will be held on the following dates/times via Microsoft Teams:

Monday 22nd September, 7pm

Tuesday 23rd September, 7pm

Wednesday 24th September, 10am

Performance Programme

As many of you will have seen, Stephanie Watson has stood down from her position as Performance Programme Lead at England Korfball. We are truly saddened to see Steph stand down and we again put on record our sincere thanks for the hard work and dedication to developing the pathway to allow us the best opportunity for future success.

We would like to take this opportunity to confirm that it is our intention to continue with the Pathway with its current ethos, concepts and strategy moving forwards and into the long term.

We will continue with the planned activities and competition entries for the Academy and DTS programme. At the time of writing this update we are looking at several options for the ETS programme for the short term. We would like to thank the coaches and support staff within the programme for their continued support.

AGM

Just a reminder that the 2024/25 Annual General Meeting will be held virtually on Friday 26th September, 7pm.

Finally, we would be hiding away, if we didn’t say that the past few months have been somewhat turbulent for the sport. Decisions have had to be taken which may not always be popular and have certainly been very difficult for the Board to make. We truly regret the number of resignations that we have seen over the past few weeks, however we respect the individuals’ reasons for stepping down. It is important to note that we need time to put in place some key foundations so that we are better placed for success. This process has already commenced behind the scenes.

We thank you for your continued supported and understanding while we go through this challenging period.
