Following on from the government announcement on Monday 4th January of a National Lockdown, we are able to confirm that in light of these national restrictions all community sport is unable to go ahead until further notice.
However, as per government guidance, you can exercise in a public outdoor place:
- by yourself
- with the people you live with
- with your support bubble (if you’re legally permitted to form one)
- in a childcare bubble where providing childcare
- or, when on your own, with one person from another household (going for a walk with someone counts as exercise).
During this period the England Korfball Office will be working at a reduced function, however will still be contactable to cover safeguarding, and key office functions. The National Development Officer will be continuing to provide office function and to support EK’s Online offer and RTP plans.
EK Online offer
Thank you to everyone who completed the EK Online offer survey which has helped us to confirm priorities. 2021 kicks off with online referee briefings on the latest IKF rule updates and the new korfball rule modifications upon which our Return to Play plan is based. Do use this time to get up to speed. Thank you to everyone who has attended the recent Refereeing Forums, there are still places available on Wednesday 13th January. Keep an eye out for further online sessions.
EK AGM and 2021 plans
The EK Board is confirming arrangements for this year’s AGM and proposals for the 2021-22 budget. There will be opportunities for members to feed into this process.
We are keen to ensure that the EK Awards reflect the outstanding contributions of many of our members during an extraordinary year and so will be reviewing the award categories to ensure they align to best reflect this. Be ready to nominate your hard working volunteers when the Award process opens.
Sport England Return to Play Funds
It has been fantastic to hear club’s successes with their Sport England Return To Play Small Grant applications. To date we have now had five clubs who have been successful, with a total of £10,595 awarded. The fund is still open for new applications Return to Play: Small Grants | Sport England
