National Youth Day 2023

On Sunday 9th July 2023 at Beccehamian Rugby Football Club, National Youth Day 2023 took place; a competition for clubs and schools in support of their youth development programmes. U9 and U11 groups played Korfball4, i.e. 4 players with 2 posts, with the U13 and U15 groups playing 8 a side.

Our U9’s category was entered by 8 teams, all competing over the course of the day to finish top of the group. It was a tight affair between Bromley Orange, Croydon Eagles and Hayes White, with Bromley taking the title by a single point. The U11 competition saw 11 teams compete in morning groups, before being seeded in the afternoon’s pools. It was a second title for Bromley, as they won all ten of their games. A big congratulations to Croydon Eagles, who took second, and Norfolk Dragons, who took third.

The U13 category was entered by 6 teams vying for the title.Tornadoes beat Bromley by a single goal, to go 5 wins from 5 and take top spot, with Bromley in second, and Cambridge in third. Four teams competed in the U15 age group, with Bromley dominating the group by winning 6 out of 6 matches.

A huge thank you to the organisers and hosts, London Korfball Association, who without, we would not have had a tournament. A big thanks to all our youth korfballers, parents and coaches for making the trip and for all your work in running youth korfball programmes.
