BBC Sport’s Mike Bushell gives Korfball a go

Legendary BBC sports presenter Mike Bushell dropped into Basingstoke Korfball Club’s training session this week and gave Korfball another go.

Tune into BBC Breakfast on Saturday (6 April) morning to find out how Mike got on.

The club who play in the Oxfordshire league are better known as Basingstoke Bulls, have two adult teams and train on Wednesday evenings at Everest Academy in Basingstoke.

It’s a sport like no other!

Korfball is an amazing ball sport that relies on passing, movement and co-operation and is different to almost all sports for one reason – it is a mixed-gender sport.

The sport acts as a beacon for gender equality because it is always and only a mixed-gender sport. All korfball teams must have 4 male and 4 female players with teamwork between genders being absolutely crucial to a team’s success.

The sport is a great way to get the whole family involved. So why not go and give it a try? There are clubs throughout the country with most offering free training sessions for anyone new to the sport.
