There were six trophies up for grabs today (Sunday 18 March 2014) at the Kent Korfball Associations cup finals.

KKA Plate Final

RAMS v VORTEX – Referee: Dave Franks, Linesman: Steve Kirby. Rams raced off to a 4-0 lead with Vortex only scoring 1 in a defence dominated first half. In the second half Vortex started the brighter bringing the scores level and 4-4, then even again at 5-5. Rams saw the match out to win 7-5. Under 11 Cup

TORNADOES v BEARSTED – Referee: Mick Medcraft. In a close fought game with only 1 goal separating the sides this made for a tense affair for the large number of supporters. Bearsted edged it 4-3. Scorers Bearsted: Daisy Lancashire, Hannah Bealey 2, Jack Chambers. Scorers Tornadoes: Ben Baker 2, Deklan White.

Kent Cup

KINGFISHER v KV – Referee: Azi Sieber, Linesman: Adam Dibble. The showpiece final was a great game even if the scoreline suggested otherwise. KV were quickly out of the blocks racing to an 8-2 advantage, Kingfisher pulled it back going into the half at 11-5 down. KV carried on how they stated in the first half  with 6 without reply, closing the game 20-8. James Mcdonald top scored with 8 for KV.

Under 13 Cup

KV v TORNADOES – Referee: Adam Dibble Linesman: Chris Beale. Tornadoes dominated the match going up 3-1 to the half, closing the match at 5-2. Will Holder (Tornadoes top scoring with 2).

Kent League Cup

KINGFISHER 2 v TORNADOES 2. Another great match, once again the scoreline doesn’t do justice to a fine game from a neutral perspective. The match started even the the score at 3-2, then Kingfisher scored 8 without reply to open a wide gap that Tornadoes couldn’t close, but nonetheless a very good match. Final score 17-5 to Kingfisher 2.

Under 16 Cup

BEARSTED v BEC – Referee: Chris Beale Linesman: Sam Barnden. Bec’s faithful and large support certainly added atmosphere to a wonderful contest between two very evenly matched teams, with both sides trading goal for goal in a nail-biting match for the large crowd. Bearsted finally edged the contest 7-5 with Rebecca Stone top scoring with 3.

Frank Sieber, Kent Korfball Association said: “It was another great finals day with superb youth talent on display and tough fought matches throughout the day. Thanks to all the parents, players, supporters, officials and Referees who made it such a great day for Kent Korfball”
