As England Korfball look ahead to the start of next season and the next cycle of the EK Performance Programme, we would like to provide you with the following update.
England Korfball are pleased to be able to announce the continued involvement of Mike Hopkinson as interim ETS Lead Coach. Having already worked within the 2024/25 programme as a coach Mike provides continuity for the ETS squad while England Korfball work towards finalising internal policies and procedures for the organisation. We are currently finalising support staff to assist Mike in the ETS coaching team, with an announcement to follow.
Mike brings a wealth of coaching and pedagogical experience to this role, with a PhD in Sport Performance Analysis, MSc in Sport & Exercise Science and a lead lecturer in Sport Performance at Leeds Beckett University. He is the lead, founder and head coach of the Northern Development Hub and Leeds Hurricanes Korfball club. As such he brings a fresh set of eyes, specific skills and experience to the role. The interim appointment ensures a stable coaching team for the squad in preparation for the European Championships in October 2026. During and up to this period, England Korfball will be advertising and seeking recruitment for all ETS coaching staff appointments to lead the squad into the World Championships in 2027.
