As we will all know, England Korfball needs to find ways to enhance the funding across our sport. If we are able to enhance the brand and the commercial value of the sport that we all love.
To assist with the evolution of our Commercial Strategy and with the execution of a specific commercial plan, the Board have been meeting with Steve and Alison Rumble about a way forward for this agenda. Following these discussions, the board has taken the decision to appoint both Steve and Alison in a consulting role for the next 2-3 years to lead on this agenda.
Some of you may know that Steve and Alison have been working together creating initiatives at club level (Tornadoes) and also for the England U19s for the 2024 European Championships. We have been delighted to see that working in collaboration with our clubs, squads and their families, they’ve had great success over the last 12 months and we feel that now is the right time to onboard them to help enhance the sponsorship and funding opportunities across the sport.
From our conversations with Steve and Alison, their focus over the coming 12 months will include:
- To look to develop strategic commercial partnerships with businesses and funding bodies in the hope they can attract funds that will be transformational for the sport
- To enable clubs to enhance the fundings opportunities that exist at grass roots
- To lead on attracting funding for squads selected to attend future international tournaments.
From our conversations we know that there will be several key factors that will be central to the success of this initiative. Having Steve and Alison on-board to lead this initiative is excellent but we all recognise that it will clearly need the collective support of the wider Korfball community to really make this land well.
We hope you are as excited as we are to see our new commercial strategy unfold.
