It has been fantastic news to see so many England Korfball Clubs being successful in their Sport England Return to Play Small Grant applications. These grants will provide much need support for clubs to resume playing.

Cambridge City £300

Exeter City £3434

Lancaster Phoenix £2580 (Case Study)

Manchester Hawks £935

Manchester Warriors £3338

Sheffield City £2100

Taunton Soul £2495

Trojans £3050

TOTAL: £21,578

What funding have your received?

Exeter City KC: “We can purchase new lighter posts, spiked bases for use on grass, fitness equipment and contributions to coaching courses and CPD. It will also let us give every member a reversible training bib so we don’t have to share these when playing games.”

Cambridge Tigers KC: “It will cover our initial outlays (on thermometer guns, cleaning products, hand sanitisers, masks and cloths) and to help us replenish stocks in the months ahead.”

What difference will this grant make to  resumption of activities?

Cambridge Tigers KC: “The grant means we have been able to hold our first return to play training session (for our 13-18-year-old members) without having to increase our fees.”

Manchester Hawks KC: “The new balls will allow more people to join in, while keeping group size to a minimum, and save our indoor balls from being damaged by the Manchester weather. Chalk paint will be used to mark out courts outdoors, enabling us to play safely adhering to the new RTP korfball rules.

How did you find the application process?

Exeter City KC: ” We found the application process straight forward. We found planning exactly what we wanted funding for made writing the justifications easier, because we had already made things clear for ourselves. Sport England only took about two weeks from submission to confirming the award.”
